A HOUSE FOR HAROLD AND HIS FAMILY

The other day, Harold, his wife Toto and their children (he has seven children with two sets of twins aged six years and one year old) moved into their new house that IRC Sagay built for them.

They finally moved from their old, wretched house that was blown down by super typhoon Yolanda. This was just hastily put together minus its anchor posts that reduced its height to about four feet. For the past nine months they have called this bare earth, nipa roofed hut (without a wall on one side) their home where Harold could not even stand straight

Their lack of adequate shelter often left the children sick, always coughing. With an initial grant from Woodbridge Community Church, and other donors we have built Harold and his family a house with one bedroom, living room, kitchen area in an all concrete floor, together with a rarity among the ninety families of Purok Bangkal: a toilet that has a septic tank.

The outer wall of Harold's house is made of nipa lined with bamboo. The roof of the house is of corrugated GI sheets. The CR is of hollowblocks. Harold and his family will be sleeping well in this new house that they are now beginning to build into a home. IRC cares for Harold and his family. IRC cares for this community. Thank you Lord.
